Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using TrueNorthPoints (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Not Financial Advice

TrueNorthPoints is an informational tool. Card recommendations, points redemption valuations, and Maple AI chat output are opinions and illustrative calculations, not personalized financial, tax, or legal advice. Always verify earn rates, redemption costs, and card terms directly with the issuer before making decisions. We are not liable for decisions you make based on information shown in the Service.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age and a resident of Canada to use the Service. You must provide accurate information when creating your account.

4. Subscriptions

We offer two tiers: Free (forever) and Plus. Plus is available as a monthly or annual auto-renewing subscription; the current price, billing period, and any applicable taxes are shown before you confirm your purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period and price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

How you subscribe and manage Plus depends on where you signed up.If you subscribe inside the iOS app, your subscription is billed to your Apple ID through Apple's In-App Purchase system, and you manage or cancel it in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions; Apple's refund policy applies. If you subscribe on the web, your subscription is billed through our payment processor, and you manage or cancel it in Settings → Billing, effective at the end of the current billing period. Web refunds are issued at our discretion for technical service failures.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for unlawful purposes or in violation of card issuers' terms of service
  • Scrape, reverse engineer, or circumvent the Service's rate limits or access controls
  • Share your account credentials or resell access
  • Use Maple AI to generate abusive, fraudulent, or illegal content
  • Upload malicious code or attempt to interfere with the Service

Violation may result in account suspension or termination without refund.

6. AI-Generated Content

Maple AI responses are generated by third-party large language models (OpenAI, Google). Responses may be inaccurate, outdated, or include fabricated details (“hallucinations”). Always independently verify Aeroplan sweet spots, fuel surcharge rules, earn rates, and redemption availability before acting.

7. Data from Third Parties

Earn rates, award charts, sweet spots, loyalty program rules, and flight prices shown in the Service are sourced from public information, Duffel, and loyalty program websites. These are subject to change without notice. We make best-effort updates but do not guarantee accuracy or currency.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including code, design, content, and trademarks, is owned by TrueNorthPoints. The name and logo “TrueNorthPoints” and “Maple AI” are our trademarks. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works without written permission.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TrueNorthPoints is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, including lost points, missed redemptions, or changes to loyalty programs. Our total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100 CAD, whichever is greater.

10. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for breach of these Terms, fraud, or if required by law. On termination, active subscriptions are prorated per our refund policy and your data is handled per the Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to the Service

We may modify, add, or remove features at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes that reduce paid-tier benefits.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
